Brief
A young working couple in Rohini wanted their compact 3BHK kitchen to work harder without feeling cramped. The existing layout had the cooktop, sink and fridge scattered across three walls, forcing constant back-and-forth while cooking. Storage was limited to two overhead cabinets, so most everyday items sat out on the counter.
The Challenge
At just under 90 sq ft, the kitchen couldn’t accommodate a parallel or island layout without blocking the entry door. The client also wanted a chimney installed for the first time, which meant planning duct routing through an existing false ceiling in the adjoining utility area.
Our Approach
We recommended an L-shaped layout that kept the cook-clean-store triangle tight: cooktop and chimney on one wall, sink and prep counter on the adjoining wall, with a tall pantry unit closing off the third corner for grocery and appliance storage. This freed up the centre of the kitchen entirely, solving the movement problem without any civil work.
Cabinets were finished in a two-tone combination — a warm oak-laminate base with a glossy white-acrylic overhead, chosen to keep the small space feeling bright. Every cabinet was built on BWP-grade waterproof ply with Hettich soft-close hinges, and the pantry unit includes three pull-out wire baskets for easier access than fixed shelving.
Result
The kitchen was completed in 24 days from measurement to handover, including chimney and duct installation. The client’s biggest feedback: for the first time, two people can work in the kitchen at once without getting in each other’s way.
